A bounty of broad beans

Our little Coach House kitchen garden is starting to become very productive thanks to Lexi's green fingers. These are the first of our broad beans which we are going to use tonight.

Our simple spring menu is

Three cheese ravioli with tomato & sage butter

Seared duck breast with balsamic lentils & spring vegetables

Lemon tart

Cherry & Frangipane Tartlets

Otis and Ella, the two Coach House puppies are growing up so fast. Here are a couple of pictures for all of our customers who fell in love with them in recent visits.

Real Bread Week starts today

The Coach House are proud supporters of the Real Bread Campaign and are happy to be participating in Real Bread Maker Week which starts today and runs until the 16th May.

We bake fresh bread on  a daily basis for our guests using only 4 ingredients.

Flour, water, salt and yeast.

Our flour is organic and milled by the experts at Bacheldre Watermill which is less than 10 miles away. There has been a mill there since 1565. Our yeast for our non-sourdough loaves is also from Bacheldre and is also organic.

This week we will be baking a different speciality loaf every day including our oft requested bacon bread.

Here are three of our regular loaves to kick start the week!

On the left are two pure sourdough loaves, made according to Ken Forkish's recipe and principles for Overnight Country Blonde.

Top right is an organic white loaf made with 80% Biga

Bottom right is a Pain du Campagne made with a combination of sourdough starter and organic yeast.

All of our loaves are available to buy, just get in touch and let us know if you would like some.

Otis & Ella. the Coach House puppies.

We'd like to introduce you to the two latest additions @ the Coach House. Our two puppies, Otis and Ella are brother and sister and unlike us are Shropshire born and bred. Otis is the chocolate one and Ella the apricot one. They are labrador / poodle crosses.

They are only 12 weeks old, they've been at the Coach House for 3 weeks and we have barely watched telly since they arrived.

Come and meet them, they are the friendliest little dogs imaginable and have already made lots of friends in Norbury.

Pop-up Pub @ the Coach House

Pop-up Pub @ the Coach House

Since the very moment we arrived in Norbury, back in October, 2013 we heard from the locals how very much they missed their beloved Sun Inn pub which operated in the building for many centuries.

We have decided to open our doors once a month for the villagers to have a place to congregate, chat, laugh, drink and have the luxury of walking home afterwards. You don't have to be from Norbury to come along, everybody is welcome, you just don't have the luxury of the short walk home.

During the summer months we hope to be able to do this more often including the odd weekend and we are also looking forward to offering food at some of these evenings.

Our next pop-up pub night is on Wednesday, May 7th! Please tell all your friends and come along.

We will be open from 6.30pm and will have the Three Tuns XXX on draught as well as a selection of local bottled ales, wines from all around the world and a full spirits selection.
